The Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) has launched its 60th Anniversary celebrations, marking six decades of fostering architectural excellence, collaboration and innovation across the Commonwealth.
The year-long campaign, themed ‘Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: 60 Years Forward,’ will culminate in the CAA General Assembly, hosted by Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects in September 2026.
Through a series of events and digital programmes, the anniversary celebrates the association’s heritage while highlighting architecture’s vital role in tackling global challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanisation and social inequality.
“As we celebrate 60 years of the Commonwealth Association of Architects, we reflect not only on our remarkable journey but also on our responsibility to help shape the next 60 years of architectural practice,” says CAA President, Steven Oundo. “This anniversary represents an opportunity to showcase the many different ways in which architects are contributing to sustainable development and helping to transform communities across the Commonwealth, whilst also inspiring the next generation of architects to build a more sustainable and equitable future.”
The campaign will spotlight projects and initiatives across Commonwealth nations, demonstrating how architects are addressing shared global challenges through innovation and design. Its online programme will act as a platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building and collaboration, connecting practitioners from diverse regions and backgrounds.
To commemorate the milestone, a specially commissioned 60th Anniversary logo has been unveiled, symbolising both the association’s enduring legacy and its commitment to a forward-looking, sustainable architectural future.
