Developed in Spain, Neolith<\/a> Sintered Stone is produced via. a process of extracting minerals from natural materials (like feldspar and clay); grinding these minerals into powder; and employing intense heat and pressure to bond them together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suitable for everything from kitchen countertops, bathrooms, and tables to external fa\u00e7ades and even outdoor flooring, the range of benefits associated with Neolith reads like a specifier\u2019s wish list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The benefits<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Lightweight and easy to work with, Neolith Sintered Stone is resistant to stains, abrasions, and scratching. It is impervious to heat, and therefore suitable for installation in all types of settings, including outside (in direct sunlight) and adjacent to ovens, gas cookers, or barbeques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, thanks to its unique composition, Sintered Stone is resistant to most standard cleaning chemicals, including household disinfectants, bleach, and alcohol. As such, it represents a wise choice for kitchens and food preparation areas \u2013 settings in which the control of micro-organisms is a priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike natural stone surfaces, which are limited in terms of colour, patterning, finish, slab size, etc., with Sintered Stone there is a wide range of options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the manufacturing, with the simple addition of natural pigments, products can be finished in a range of 30-plus colours and patterns. With everything available \u2013 from soft whites and greys to intricate marbling \u2013 there is something suitable for every application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The material is available as a tile or a slab and comes in a range of sizes and thicknesses. The 3mm slabs are recommended for interior applications like kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, or even lifts; while the 6mm product is ideal for indoor and outdoor environments that require more substantial dimensions; and the 12mm surface tends to be used on kitchen and bathroom benchtops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile the 20mm thickness, which is also recommended for kitchen benchtops, delivers the added benefit of not requiring substrates or specially edging like mitres and therefore reducing overall cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A further benefit of these surface materials \u2013 one that has taken on added importance in these times of \u2018product stewardship\u2019 \u2013 is their environmental credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neolith products are made from 100% natural materials and manufactured in accordance with the globally recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG). Since 2019, the company\u2019s manufacturing operations have all been carbon neutral. Thanks to a program of tactical, high value carbon off-setting, unavoidable emissions are all accounted for and offset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
